KitHub ("the app", "we") is a personal inventory, paint-tracking, and build-diary application for scale model builders, available at www.kithub.cz. This page explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and which third-party services process it.
1. Account data
You can use the app as a guest (anonymous account, no personal data collected beyond a random device identifier) or by registering with an email address or a Google account. Registered accounts store an email address and, if you choose, a display name, managed by Firebase Authentication (Google Cloud).
2. Content you add
Everything you enter — kits, paints, projects, build photos, notes, and reference boards ("Topics") — is stored under your own account in a Firebase (Google Cloud) database and file storage, in the EU region. It is private to your account unless you explicitly choose to make specific content public (for example submitting a kit to the shared catalog for other users to discover).
3. Third-party services used to power features
- Firebase / Google Cloud — hosting of authentication, database, and file storage (all user content).
- Resend — sending the emails the app sends (email address verification and password reset). Resend receives only your email address and the message text, and sends from an EU region (Ireland).
- Google Gemini and OpenAI — used, only when you trigger an AI feature (e.g. build-plan generation, kit research), to process the relevant kit/project text you're working on. Requests are relayed through our own server so the AI providers never receive your account credentials.
- Scalemates.com — used (via a proxy we operate) to look up publicly available kit, accessory, and book information when you search for or add an item from its catalog.
- Pinterest API — used only if you explicitly connect your Pinterest account (see section 4 below).
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with any party for advertising purposes.
4. Pinterest integration
KitHub offers an optional feature to import images from a Pinterest board you own into a Topic's reference gallery inside the app. This feature is entirely opt-in — nothing is connected until you click "Connect Pinterest" and complete Pinterest's own authorization screen.
- Scopes requested:
boards:readandpins:read— read-only access to your own boards and pins. The app never posts, edits, or deletes anything on your Pinterest account. - What we store: the OAuth access and refresh token issued by Pinterest, kept exclusively on our server (Google Cloud Functions) so that it is never exposed to any browser, including your own — not even readable by your own logged-in session. It is used solely to fetch the boards/pins you ask the app to import.
- What gets copied into KitHub: when you choose a board to import, the app downloads the pin images from Pinterest's own CDN and re-hosts them in your private Firebase Storage folder, so that your reference gallery keeps working even if the original pin is later deleted or the URL changes. No other Pinterest data (comments, other users' boards, following lists, etc.) is accessed or stored.
- Revoking access: you can disconnect at any time from inside KitHub (Topic → Gallery → "Unlink board"), or by revoking KitHub's access directly in your Pinterest account settings under "Apps" — either action stops all further access; previously imported photos remain in your gallery until you delete them yourself.
5. Analytics (Microsoft Clarity)
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use the app — session recordings and click/scroll heatmaps of in-app interactions. Clarity does not collect personal data such as your name or email, and no data is sold or used for advertising.
- Consent required: Clarity only runs after you accept the analytics prompt shown on first launch. You can change this at any time from Settings → About. Declining (or later disabling it) stops all Clarity tracking and cookies for your browser.
- What it stores: when enabled, Clarity may set first- and third-party cookies (see Clarity's cookie list) to recognize repeat visits and record anonymized session behavior.
6. Data retention and deletion
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual items (kits, photos, connected services) at any time from within the app. You can delete your whole account with all its data (including photos and attachments) under Settings → Account & Sync → "Delete account and all data". A subscription that renews automatically has to be cancelled first. After deletion, your contributions to the shared kit catalogue and the payment records we must keep for accounting remain. Payment services (RevenueCat, Stripe, Google Play) keep their own payment records; contact us using the email below to have them removed, or for any other help with deletion.
7. Children's privacy
KitHub is not directed at children and is not knowingly used to collect data from children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above will be revised.
